In a game of craps the possible numbers that can be rolled out are eleven arranged in coordinates of six in vertical and horizontal axes – 2, 3, 4, 5,6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. All the rolls are given some names according to their arrangement on the axes which are 36 in all according to the combinations used. Now there are four ‘craps’ rolls – one Snake Eyes roll (1-1), two Ace Deuce rolls (1-2 and 2-1) and one Boxcars roll (6-6). Then there are eight ‘natural’ rolls – six Natural or Seven Out rolls (1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2 and 6-1) and two Yo (Yo-leven) rolls (5-6 and 6-5). All the other rolls in the craps games, that is, the remaining 24 are the ‘point’ rolls. However they also have various names such as two Easy Four rolls (1-3 and 3-1), one Hard Four roll (2-2), four Five or Fever Five rolls (1-4, 2-3, 3-2 and 4-1), four Easy Six rolls (1-5, 2-4, 4-2 and 5-1), one Hard Six roll (3-3), four Easy Eight rolls (2-6, 3-5, 5-3 and 6-2), one Hard Eight roll (4-4), four Nine or Nina rolls (3-6, 4-5, 5-4 and 6-3), two Easy Ten rolls (4-6 and 6-4) and one Hard Ten roll (5-5).

This system of giving a name to the rolls makes the game of carps more interesting and exciting. Sometimes local nicknames for rolls may be used. The 9 is often known as the ‘centerfield nine’ because of its position as the center of the field wager. Similarly, the 5 is otherwise called ‘no field five’ since players don’t gate the payout on wagers made on 5. Sometimes players and dealers would call the 9 as ‘Lou Brown’ to refer any of the four combinations of nine roll. While the 11 is called Yo or Yo-leven to distinguish it with the 7, the rolls of 4, 6, 8 and 10 re categorized into easy and hard to indicate their significance in the center table wagers.
